The Mac Observer calls Michael Bach’s mind-bender house of illusions “a cool waste of time“!
And there’s no denying it, Michael is definitely one creative soul…
He’s taken the time to create 57 (and counting!) optical illusions AND post them all in one place online for everyone to enjoy.
Each is a mind game of sorts.
He calls them “visual illusions”, because each plays tricks on your eyes and exaggerates the fact that we all “see” things differently.
From the very first visual illusion he created back in 1997 called the “Hollow Face” to the most recent (posted today!) called the “Terror Subterra”, you’re sure to be amazed by these simple-yet-complex visual puzzles which fall into the following categories:
- Faces
- Cognitive/Gestalt Effects
- Size Constancy illusions
- Geometric & Angle illusions
- Luminance & Contrast effects
- Effects of Colour
- Illusions of Motion & Time
Michael’s Optical Illusions & Visual Phenomena site is so cool, he gets upwards of 2 million hits a day!
If you like this, you’ll probably also enjoy the Exploratorium — the museum of site, art, and human perception. It comes highly recommended. (My favorite is the Ten Cool Sites section!)
I like to help people find unique ways to do things in order to save time & money — so I write about “outside the box” ideas that most wouldn’t think of. As a lifelong dog owner, I often share my best tips for living with and training dogs. I worked in Higher Ed over 10 years before switching gears to pursue activities that I’m truly passionate about. I’ve worked at a vet, in a photo lab, and at a zoo — to name a few. I enjoy the outdoors via bicycle, motorcycle, Jeep, or RV.
