Actress Sean Young is the last person you might expect to see singing country music in Nashville, Tennessee. But she came prepared... and she dressed the part, too!
Here are photos of Sean Young performing at the Wildhorse Saloon for the final taping of Gone Country 2.
Jermaine Jackson was one of the tamest performers on stage during the final taping for Season 2 of Gone Country.
He's just a low-key kind of guy, that's all.
But he sure looked good!...
Raise your hand if you're the saddest Country music songwriter in the business.
Yep, the folks at Anheuser-Busch have created a new Bud Light Real Men of Genius commercial.
This one is called Mr Sad Country Song Songwriter, and they've dedicated it to none other than Dierks Bentley -- one of Nashville's top singers and songwriters!
[This was a photo I took at the 2007 Dierks Bentley Celebrity Motorcycle Ride in Nashvile.]
Lorenzo Lamas was trying really hard to be "country" at the season finale of Gone Country 2 at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville.
He certainly gave it a valiant attempt.
But it was hard for those who know him best from shows like Falcon Crest and Renegade to get past his "hollywood" status (...and those rock-hard abs!).
Sebastian Bach (formerly of Skid Row) has been called a lot of things, but I doublt that he's ever been called a Country music singer before!
Well, he gave the Country music industry a run for its money recently when he participated in CMT's reality TV series called Gone Country.
We were at the season finale for the show and snapped these photos of Sebastian Bach performing at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville...
Chris Kirkpatrick was the first celebrity performer to appear on stage at the Wildhorse (after John Rich did his pre-show for Gone Country 2).
Chris was the mysterious Elvis-looking character that everyone was talking about while waiting in line for the "red carpet event" to wrap up.
His purple jacket could be seen from miles away. He wore it well.
Last night was the season finale for Gone Country 2. Actually, the series hasn't even started airing yet on CMT, but they were taping the final episode "live" at the Wildhorse Saloon. (Gone Country 2 airs on CMT in August.)
We were there for the first season of Gone Country -- that show's final taping was also at the Wildhorse Saloon. And I must say, it was kind of fun watching all of the episodes on CMT after seeing the finale in person. But Jim & I definitely had the wrong "winner" picked for last year's Gone Country. (Julio Iglesias Jr. won it.)
Here are my photos and reports on who sang which song, and how each performer did at the season finale of Gone Country 2...
As part of a business promotion we are affiliated with (Jim and the Hoosier Thunder Motorsports team have teemed up with CMT to run a special contest called Trick My Crew... more details here), we scored tickets to the CMT Awards Show Monday night at the Curb Center here in Nashville.
What a blast!
You weren't supposed to take cameras in, but somehow mine (and a few hundred others) got past security. To give you an idea... the security guards sent me to the camera check-in counter once they saw that the only thing in my bag was a Nikon camera, zoom lens, and super flash. However, I just walked right past that desk and went on into the show instead. I guess hundreds of others did too, because there were flashes going off all night long. (I think they were just trying to keep the flash bulbs to a minimum, since it was a live TV show. But still....)
Here are the results of my sly photo-taking skills...
Jim and I were driving around recently when we started compiling this list of questions we had about writing songs. Trust me, neither of us has any interest in being a songwriter. We're just everyday music listeners who are simply intrigued by the business of songwriting, and we always seem to have more questions than answers about how things work in the music industry -- particularly the Country music industry.
Living in Nashville has definitely led us to connect a bit more with the songwriters who exist behind-the-scenes and the singer-songwriters who work double-time as writers and performers. Non-writing singers?... Well they're not really on our radar much these days.
So anyway... below are some questions. I'll share whatever answers we've found along the way. But hopefully, we'll learn a few things from those of you who actually know these answers firsthand and take the time to chime in in the Comments below.
Just for fun... Find any artist's songwriter credits here. (enter artist's name, then click on the 'songs' tab in gray).
We know who the celebrities are -- the ones who are actually singing the songs for this Country Music competition hosted by John Rich.
But because I'm such a geek for songwriters and I have my "favorites" in the Country Music end of this industry, I'm more interested in the Nashville songwriters who are helping these celebs pen their songs than I am in the show itself.
For the record, the final episode of Gone Country airs this coming Friday on CMT. (Of course, then it will re-air about a million times after that -- because all of the other 5 episodes have already re-aired time and time again!)
Below I've listed the songwriters, who they are paired with on the show, and the name of the song they wrote for the Gone Country competition.
And I just have to say right now, I should've KNOWN that Jeffrey Steele was behind Bobby Brown's song. It's got J.S. written all over it! Yes, I realize they mentioned it at the season finale that was taped months ago, but I was too busy paying attention to everything else going on that night.
Like I said before (here and here), the song that Bobby Brown chose to perform for this competition ROCKS. And it's perfectly written for him. Not to mention the fact that Bobby Brown did a remarkable job of singing it!
Okay, onto the songwriting duos, the celebrity they're paired with, and the title of the song they wrote together...
