We were able to rescue the floating cooler. One of my missing flip flops. And a can koozie. But not the waterproof disposable camera.

The photographer that I am, I begged Jim to paddle us UP-stream back to the scene of the crime in order to look for the camera.

We found it, wrapped around the exact tree that took us down! The camera's elastic wristband hung it up there, bobbing up and down in the current. After repeated efforts to reach the camera (without sinking us again!), we managed to grab the camera -- without which we would have no evidence of our near-death canoeing experience.

From this point on, I chose to wear the life jacket... cuz, better safe than soggy!
