How To Photograph Holiday Lights At Night

| Comments (0)

'Tis the season... to photograph all the colorful Christmas lights!

The neighbor's ceramic pig wearing a Santa hat. If you're anything like us, then you probably enjoy driving to other neighborhoods to see the many ways that people have chosen to decorate their houses, their lawns, and their trees with twinkling lights and other holiday yard art. We especially like driving through the "nicer" neighborhoods and admiring their handiwork... like George Jones's house (4025 Nestledown Drive in the Nestledown Farms subdivision off Highway 96).

(You may recall that WE typically don't decorate for Christmas, yet we never cease to be amazed by the lengths that OTHER people go to to light up the night around their domicile!)

...And every town has its own share of over-the-top Christmas light decorators, right? We're always on the lookout for "that guy" each year. (See links below to find "that guy" in your own neighborhood!)

Some think of it as the Clark Griswold effect... others see it as simply a beautiful expression of creativity. Either way, it's a joy get out and about taking in the sights and sounds of the holiday season.

CLICK to hear the audio of Clark Griswold explaining the number of lights he used to decorate his house with... from the movie Christmas Vacation starring Chevy Chase.
Listen to the theme song from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation".

Shaun Groves CD Release Party

| Comments (0)

I wasn't familiar with Shaun Groves or his music until I came across his blog called "SCHLOG" the other night while researching Tennessee Bloggers to include on our Tennessee Bloggers website.

By the way, after last night's Shaun Groves concert at The People's Church here in Franklin, I ran home to put up this post... and just to make sure I was spelling his name right, I Googled it. Check out this rather obscure suggestion that Google gave me!...

Shaun Groves Schlog or Schlong?

Fortunately, I know that Shaun has a GREAT sense of humor! So I'm sure he'd get a chuckle from this as well.

Pig Blogging: This Little Piggy Goes To Weddings

The comical story behind This Little Piggy who resides in downtown Franklin, Tennessee can be found here.

Today, Mr. Pig (or would that be MS. Pig???) was garbed for a wedding:

A pig statue dressed for a wedding... complete with bridal veil and a bouquet of flowers!

DILO: A Day In The Life Of...

One of the FUN things I do with photos on Flickr is participate in the "Day In The Life Of" (DILO) project.

Every month or so, they ask for personal submissions -- 5 photographs which summarize how you spent your day.

The most recent one was this past Tuesday, June 21st.

This is what I was doing...

Alan Jackson's House... Living Like Royalty In Franklin, Tennessee!

| Comments (22)

Carved into the stone at the gate to Alan Jackson's home is the word 'Sweetbriar'.Living where we do, we have the opportunity to take in a lot of unique sights & sounds... especially those which pertain to singers, songwriters, musicians, and other celebs who reside in and around NashVegas.

For us though, there's a fine line between wanting to see where these mega-stars live (and thereby photographing such locations), and respecting their privacy.

We're not the type to participate in "star stalking", per se. But we have a hard time passing up an opportunity to satisfy our own curiosities.

Bet You Don't Know Jack...

The new JACK radio billboard near downtown Nashville. There's a new guy in town, and his name is Jack.

Truth is, he's been around the block a few times. In other words, "This ain't his first rodeo..."

I'm talking about the new radio station, 96.3 JACK-FM, here in Nashville.

That, in and of itself, isn't news -- to me.
