Outdoor Easter Games For Kids
There are a lot of fun outdoor activities you can do with kids on Easter day.
The ones you ultimately decide on will be determined by the age of the children and the props or supplies that you are willing to make (or buy).
That, and the number of children involved and the prizes you obtain for all the winners.
Here are some of the best outdoor Easter games for kids -- whether you're having an Easter party or just enjoying some time at home with the family.
Easter Egg Hunt Variations
When my grandsons were small, we always planned an indoor Easter egg hunt.
As they grew older, we moved the Easter egg hunt outdoors and into the garden.
Instead of just hiding Easter eggs, we turned the event into a full-blown Easter treasure hunt. We bought plastic eggs at the dollar store and put clues inside. These clues lead the boys to the treasure, which was sometimes a piece of Lego or another coveted toy. They had lots of fun following the clues.
Laughter echoed through the yard and when the treasure was finally found, they would dance with excitement. Of course, there was always a treasure for each boy.

Easter Egg Race
There were times when the boys' friends were invited for an egg race on Easter morning.
We did it the traditional way, but there are lots of variations of Easter egg races you can try.
In our case, the kids were split into 2 teams. Next, each child was provided with a tablespoon and a sand pail full of plastic Easter eggs. At an appropriate distance for the ages of the kids, we placed a large Easter basket.
Each child then placed an Easter egg on the spoon, held the end of the spoon in their mouth, and walked across the yard to place it in the basket. They weren't allowed to use their hands. And if they dropped the plastic egg, they had to start over.
If you're daring enough, older children can use real eggs, but be aware the cleanup isn't as much fun as the race.
Limbo Bar
Kids love music, so start by setting up a CD player in the backyard. Play some of their favorite tunes.
Get an old broom handle and make a limbo bar.
Have the children line up and limbo underneath the bar with the music playing in the background.
Lower the limbo bar after each round. If a player touches the bar above or the grass below (or falls!), that child is out of the game.
The last player remaining wins a chocolate or stuffed Easter bunny.
Kids Easter Parade
Invite children from the neighborhood to participate in an Easter parade in your backyard or at the nearby park.
Be sure to explain that instead of watching the parade, they will be participating. Each person invited will be making an Easter hat on-site in the moments leading up to the parade.
Provide everyone with white plastic fedoras. (These can be purchased at dollar or party stores, as well as online.) Also pick up some stickers, colored ribbon, glitter paints, flowers and lace.
Once the children have decorated their hats, play some music, and have the children put on a parade where their own personalities (and their hats!) are the star of the show.
Spectators can be parents, grandparents and neighbors. Be sure to take lots of photos!
You might want to have someone dress up as the Easter Bunny to lead the parade.
Easter Pinata
An Easter pinata is also lots of fun.
You can pick one up from your local party store or, if you're crafty, make your own Easter pinata.
Fill the pinata with Easter candy and small toys and hang it in the backyard. Line the children up and let each one take a turn hitting the pinata with a broom handle. If the kids are older, then it's fun to blindfold them before they take a swing at the pinata.
Be sure all little ones are safely out of hitting range. When the pinata breaks, the kids will have loads of fun scooping up the candy and prizes. Be certain that every child gets some of the loot.
