Here are some tried & true homemade Ugly Sweater ideas that have all been attempted in the past:

• Pinning or taping a hand-drawn picture on a wild-colored "regular" sweater


• Wearing a "regular" sweater inside out (so all the gangly strings from the embroidery work are showing)


• Tacking some big pom-poms (made from yarn) onto a "regular" sweater... or one that's been turned inside out!


• Taping ornaments and other Christmas-related figurines (usually of the stuffed kids' toys type) onto a "regular" sweater

...Remember, the gaudier, the better! Those are always the ones that people are talking about the next morning around the watercooler. And if you're not striving to be the topic of discussion at the watercooler... well, then you're just not trying hard enough.
