I should have put something in the invite about a $5 entrance fee for the ugly sweater prize winner....then the person who wins will get the cash.....or I could just take it away and say early april fools...this money is going to charity! lol! I also forgot to put on the invite to bring a toys for tots....ahhh the things you think of after teh fact! What kind of criteria did you find?

We are having out first ugly sweater xmas party! I made my own invitations. They came out AWESOME! I made up this little poem:
Glitter, Buttons, Bows & Bells,
Find a Sweater that's UGLY as Hell!
Grandma's Closet, Ebay, Craigs List,
This is a party yoiu don't want to miss!!
I am a graphic designer and the invites came out awesome! I used a pic of a reindeer in an ugly sweater.
We are only having apps and drinks. I am doing all really different apps that people haven't had in forever, ie - ants on a log!!! Having about 25 different unique appetizers. House is decorated in every corner. I even got serving dishes that looked like little ugly sweaters!!! (Kohls). I got hysterical prizes like a giant sugar daddy lolly pop (about 2 feet tall). I kinda wanted everything to be a litle tacky and over the top because of the ugly sweater theme. I even found this thing at Michaels craft store. it is aphoto backdrop. Two penguins and you put your faces through it for the pic. I wrote in red glitter on the front - the Verney's Christmas Party and the date. When people get here, we will take pics. I will email it to them with a thank you after the party. Does anyone else have any unique ideas?? Email me!! Thanks! Jessica

this will be my fifth year hosting an "Ugly Christmas Sweater" Party and let me tell you the memories last a lifetime. It gets better each year. For some extra added fun have a white elephant exchange with guests bringing a "re-gift" from the previous year. You all know someone gives you a horrible gift. This is your chance to puss it off on someone else while getting a laugh doing it. Alcohol is a must!

i just made them there for my party this year... CHEAP and they look SO good!
Check out eBay - there is someone selling them under the screen name of UglySweaterParty and they are HYSTERICAL!! I don't know where they got so many but you can spend forever just checking them out, and finding out the story behind the sweater!
TIP: Buy early; last year they were very hard to come by in December, and the prices went way up!!! Have fun partying & good luck finding the perfect one for you!!
