According to dictionary publisher Merriam-Webster, the word that best sums up 2006 is:

TRUTHINESS

...better add that one to your spell checker dictionaries!


Truthiness is a word that was coined by comedian Stephen Colbert on his October 2005 broadcast of "The Colbert Report".

Colbert defines truthiness as:

truth that comes from the gut, not books
