If you're the type that knows just enough about computers to get by, and you carry a cell phone merely for the ability to send & receive calls -- nothing more -- then listen up.
Here are a couple of easy tricks to make your Internet and cell phone experience even better.
In other words, if you're a technophobe... then these will be right up your alley!
These fast & easy tips are guaranteed to make your online experience even more enjoyable, your cell phone more personalized, and your online searches more efficient.
Google Quick Tip
When searching in Google, you'll eliminate a lot of the junk if you simply put quote marks around your search term(s). Using quotes, you will only get search results where those particular words are used in that particular order. These days, I NEVER search without using quote marks.
Examples:
"franklin tennessee" (rather than franklin tennessee)
"brown recluse"
"cxt truck"
"how to play euchre"
"best bubble bath"
By the way, capitalization in Google is irrelevant -- you get the same results whether you use all caps, intital caps, all lower case, etc.
Cell Phone Quick Tip
If you have a cell phone with a camera feature, the quickest and easiest way to put your favorite (4x6 or larger) photograph on your cell phone -- AND use that picture as your wallpaper, so every time you open your phone, that photo fills the background of your screen -- is this:
Simply take a picture of that picture WITH your camera phone. Save that picture to your phone. Then set that picture as your "wallpaper" or "screensaver".
Step-by-step, how to do it on a Motorola V400 cellphone:
- choose "multimedia"
- select "camera"
- press "capture"
- choose "store"
- select "apply as wallpaper" (or "apply as screensaver")
Bonus Cell Phone TIP #1: Use that "voice record" feature! Seriously... I use it daily to record my shopping list, my to-do list, someone's phone number, brilliant ideas I have, directions to someone's house, etc. It's sooooo easy! Any time you think of something, just press one button and "talk" it into your phone. They're just as easy to replay back.
Bonus Cell Phone TIP #2: Don't stick with the basic layout of the buttons and screens that your cell phone provider thinks you'd prefer. Instead, take the time to set exactly what YOU want your buttons to do when you press them. Usually you have two on the front and 2-4 more on the sides of your phone which you can program as desired. For example, one could be used to bring up the "calculator" feature, another to activate your "voice record" feature, and another to activate the "camera" feature. If you don't do this, then you may have to shuffle through a series of screens to utilize such features.

Internet Browser Quick Tip
When it comes to using your "online time" most efficiently, WHICH browser you use can make a world of difference! The biggest time-saver that we've found is: tabbed-browsing. (The standard Internet Explorer doesn't have it.)
Two other browsers do:
...and
I currently use Maxthon (I have for over 5 years), though I'm considering switching to Firefox. Jim has used Firefox for awhile now. For him, there's no looking back. The tabbed browsing is the best part of any Internet browser. You can have several websites open at once, without having to shift between browser windows & try to remember what's open where.
