Before You Send Care Packages To U.S. Military Soldiers...

Here's what I received when I called & requested a FREE Care Package For Soldiers from the U.S. Postal Service... GREAT stuff! Did you know that you can get free envelopes and supplies to ship items to U.S. Soldiers?

In fact, there are some things you should consider when sending care packages over the holidays.

Here are some little-known facts about sending items to military men and women overseas...

Request Free Envelopes & Supplies To Ship Items To Soldiers

Before you go on the hunt for boxes, tape, envelopes, and the like to ship items to Soldiers in the U.S. Military, consider the following:

The United States Post Office offers FREE shipping materials as part of their CareKit#4. (More info here.)

To get yours, simply call their Expedited Package Supply Center at 1-800-610-8734.

Or, leave the shipping to someone else by sending Treats For Troops instead of your own individual items!

Before Mailing Items To Soldiers Overseas...

Through the Foster-A-Soldier Program, individuals and organizations can sponsor soldiers, and send gifts with good wishes and messages of support without actually personally knowing anyone in the service.

Need Some Gift Ideas For Soldiers?

Here is an extensive list of items that would be great inside a Holiday Care Package for a U.S. Soldier.

And are a few more...

Soldiers who must be apart from their families during Thanksgiving or Christmas are likely to appreciate some holiday-themed items to help them beat the blues during this time.

Believe it or not, soldiers enjoy holiday decorations, including Christmas lights!

If you'd like something to arrive in time for Christmas, try to mail it by December 1st (or even earlier, if possible).

Sending your care package "priority" will speed up the time it takes to get to the APO, but not the time it takes to get from the APO to the soldier's actual location.

Holiday cards and an address book with names & addresses of their friends & family members makes a great gift idea.

To make it even easier for a soldier you love, consider sending self-addressed envelopes -- but no stamps. (Soldiers can send mail postage-free!)

And For Comic Relief...
Birthday Party Pack -- with a dancing cake and colorful banner!
monkey_butt.jpg Monkey Butt -- a specially formulated powder to absorb excess sweat and reduce frictional skin irritation
Silly String For Soldiers -- it's being used to detect trip wires
What NOT To Do With USPS Mailing Supplies -- unless you want to be like this guy who made homemade furniture from FedEx boxes!

I wonder if you could help me find out if there is any origanizations helping with the shipping of packages to Iraq? My Daisy Troop and my daughter's Brownie Troop of Girl Scouts raised $190 worth of stuff to send to them plus 25 Norelco Battery operated razors, but we didn't think about the shipping and the small boxes the post office has it would cost way over $200 to send this stuff. We were going to adopt a Marine Unit related to a friend of mine. Please let me know.
Thanks,
Mrs. Shari Dickerson

Thank you for the best site I've come across to help me in preparing a care package for my niece, Jessica, who is in Balad. You are performing a great service for all. Thanks also for making things a little easier for all who have loved ones in the military service!
