How You Can Help Spread Firefox... FAST!

| Comments (0)

The folks at Firefox are at it again... getting millions of people to download the Firefox browser and proclaim it as their browser of choice.

In fact, they project that they're going to hit "the 50 million mark" on Friday, April 29, 2005.

Get Firefox!

That's 50 million downloads in less than 6 months!

That just shows you just how quickly word about Firefox is spreading, but if you need more evidence, check this out...

Just The Facts, Man

  • Browser Stats: Who's Using What?

  • Official Numbers: Firefox Usage vs IE Usage

  • Mozilla's Market Share in the Browser Wars

  • The Official Number of Firefox Downloads

  • Business Professionals Using Firefox

Truth is, they've had a LOT of help getting the word out... (not that there's anything wrong with that).

You see, there's this little contest going on, and average people like you and me are a part of it.

    Here's The Inside Scoop...
If you're a diehard Firefox supporter and you're proud to show it, then you can become a FireFox Affiliate. This, in itself is pretty cool -- that you can get "credit" for referring people to Firefox. To become a Firefox Affiliate, simply "join sfx" (which is basically just registering on their site) to receive your unique Firefox Affiliate ID.

Then you just link to the Firefox download page! (From there, you can sit back and relax as you watch your "points" continue to increase with each new sign-up.)

    But wait, it gets better!...

Those who take it to the next level by doing something to really impress the guys at the SpreadFirefox team are eligible for a "special" prize!

    How do you win?
They're wanting you to do something so cool, so unusual, and so spectacular to spread Firefox that they can't HELP but be impressed. In their own words: "Maybe it's convincing your mayor to declare a Firefox holiday (take a picture of the declaration). Or going to the prom dressed as a Firefox (take a picture of your date slapping you). We'll keep a running log of the prize winners and their stories below. The sky's the limit, but the clock's ticking."

Yep, there's actually a clock... or a ticker... that's counting all of the Firefox downloads live and tracking the number of Firefox downloads.
They're about to hit 50 million, and when they do, a bunch of people are going to be eligible for big prizes!

    What are the prizes?
Who knows. But they claim to have "a handful of unique prizes that you won't find anywhere else."

They also added this little bonus: "As soon as we turn 50 [million downloads], we'll be giving away the biggest prize of all to a special Spread Firefox affiliate, and it has nothing to do with impressing us."

Firefox has been downloaded by 50 million people today!
