Online Photo Sharing Services: A Review

If you've got digital photos (from a camera phone or digital camera), then you're probably looking for fun new ways to:

A) share your photos with others; and

B) organize all your pictures in some meaningful order.

Following are a WEALTH of resources to help you with all your online photo needs, including some reviews of the most popular online photo sharing services.

Places To Share & Organize Your Photos Online
There are a number of online websites for sharing and organizing your photos. To name a few: Flickr, Shutterfly, Ofoto/Kodak Gallery, SnapFish, WebShots, SmugMug, and Yahoo Photos.

...And some of the newer/less popular ones: Picture Trail, Fortune City's My Photo Album, Photo Bucket,Dot Photo, and Foto Bay.

  • Rob does a great job comparing the pros and cons of Webshots, Snapfish, and Flickr.
  • KC Lemson addresses the issue of buying a photo printer vs just using online services.
  • SmugMug (one of the online photo sharing sites) owns no printers, so they offer an unbiased review of online sites that let you (and your friends) buy prints online.
  • CNet reviews 10 of the top online photo sharing sites.
  • Epinions is a forum where users share their firsthand experiences with a wide variety of online photo sharing sites.
  • If you know you'll want prints of some of your photos, then consider this review of online photo sites that offer prints as well.
  • Sarin lets us in on why it makes sense to upgrade beyond the "free" account sometimes... especially with Flickr.
  • Here's an excellent interactive Online Photo Resource Guide to help you pick the best online photo service for YOUR needs.

BlueMelon as one of the services to offer the most features should probably be worth mentioning too.

    Hello,
I agree, the best photo sharing service depends only on your needs. For me, the most important feature is the quality of the images as well as the respect for privacy. I would like to know what are the best in these fields. Right now I am using Joomeo ( http://www.jomeo.com) which seems good but I am always looking for advice.

You should also add photomaxphotos.com in your review. You get 5GB of storage to share and save your photos on this site. Plus you get 20 free prints for trying. Anyway just wanted to share this for future reviews.

Take a look at photoApe.com. If you deem it worthy :), please include on the list.
