Coach Bob Knight Accepts Univ. Tennessee Vols Coaching Position

University of Tennessee logo....I can see it now. That will be the headline in a matter of a few short weeks.

How do I know?

Because Coach Bob Knight has followed me everywhere I've gone. Seriously!

Try this on for size...

Best friends through grade school, high school, college, and beyond - Suzie and Lynnette at an IU basketball game in Bloomington when Bobby Knight coached the Hoosiers. I attended Indiana University in Bloomington... where, of course, Bob Knight was the legendary coach of all coaches, the chair-thrower of all chair-throwers, and the most mild-mannered, even-tempered man in the country.

Basketball coach Bob Knight. Then, I moved to Lubbock, Texas in pursuit of my Master's Degree at Texas Tech... soon followed by Coach Bob Knight who moved his coaching talents to Texas Tech in pursuit of a Big 12 instead of a Big 10 win for a change.

Now, I ask you...
What do you think the odds are that this gypsy traveler from the Midwest (like myself) will eventually wind up in Tennessee (like myself)... after he tires of this brief stint in Lubbock, Texas (like myself)?

He's chosen my course over the past 21 years. I'm beginning to think that Coach Bob Knight and I are living parallel lives!

I'm DEFINITELY seeing a pattern here...

Not to mention the fact that Knight has coached in Tennessee before, and he liked it:
Indiana University pennant.

Bob Knight coached his Indiana team in a 1973 March Madness NCAA basketball tournament game in Music City

For the record... Knight denies any interest in the Tennessee coaching position (and the "parallel lives" theory).

Here's the lead story about Coach Bob Knight taking the University of Tennessee coaching position for the UT Volunteers men's basketball team... straight from the source.

Coach Bobby Knight's abrupt departure

I've written before to you about Coach Bobby Knight,& ANYONE who even remotely knows or knew him shouldn't be surprised by this sudden , yet unexpected, retirement, which by the way is long
over due!!! Is it not enough that Myles Brandt(I.U.) TRIED to drag him through the mud? Not too mention all the reporters & media personnel that he himself refers to as "Bad Guys"? & for what? a story? If they
wanted a story from the Coach, all they had to do was print verbatim!or just try the truth! It should come as no shock, to his long line of supportive fans, that the most winningest Coach in college basketball of all time, went out with a surprise of a BANG!!!

Hi, I'm a Bloomingtonian. That probably says it all whenever it comes to Coach Knight, whom I beleive should've been presented with an award of achievement by IU yesterday! Too bad that with all the years of wonderful leadership qualities that this man provided our community with. Hell, he put IU on the map!!! I was very embarrassed yesterday, while I was watching ESPN2, to be from Bloomington. IU should be ashamed of themselves, for ever even doing Bobby the way they have!! Let's face it, IU basketball will never be the same! That was the dumbest, most idiotic thing that IU has ever done! I'll bet H. Wells, & my Grandfather ( who holds the record for longest reighning police chief at IU, & Fire chief of IU as well), are literally rolling & doing handstands in their graves!!! Such a shame that Myles Brand destroyed a close-knit community, & then just left, like a typical coward would do. But, honestly, what choice did such an idiot have??? Not much was left for him here, after trying to tear apart what H. Wells(whom I knew well), built. Anyway, I was wandering if this site could provide me with an accurate email address for Coach Bobby Knight, & Pres. Herbert? I would like to thank you for providing me this opportunity to express myself. I'm not sur if others agree, but, I'm sure that Bobby Knight(whom I once sold Girl Scout Cookies to, as a girl ), will reighn on strong, in Bloomington, Texas or wherever he shall go.Greatly missed by many, thanks a million
