Update: Day Two of 'NO TV'

| Comments (3)

Here it is the second full day without a television on in our house.

A few things have changed...

First, have a listen to Bud Light's "Mr. Dishonest Cable TV Hooker Upper":

1. The days are going by so much more slowly. That's awesome! Now I feel that I actually HAVE enough time to get some stuff done in a day. It's amazing how you THINK the TV is just on for the background noise, but you actually get sidetracked more than you realize. The result: a 30-minute task of "updating the website" turns into an hour-long task while watching TV!

2. I'm becoming re-energized to get up and move more. Rather than just sit at the computer and watch TV while I'm doing "stuff". In fact, I bought a Yoga book and on Day One I managed to complete the 40 minute warm-up yoga moves (should've only taken 30 minutes, but I'm outta shape!), followed by a 15-minute workout tape (which was an hour-long taped workout routine, but again, my lack of fitness required that I cut it short at 15 minutes). Props for trying, right? And I'll be back for Day Two... I won't let Yoga kick my butt just yet! (...but my abs are sore, the backs of my legs are sore, as are my arms)

Award-winning videos, mats, accessories & more...

3. While regular TV programming is not on in our house, and there's no habitual flipping (of the remote control) going on anymore either... we ARE watching rented movies together. It's been awhile since we've taken the time out of our "busy schedules" to sit down and watch a movie together -- at home. Oh, I know we go OUT to movies like nobody's business! But that's for the purpose of "getting out of the house". However, to actually sit in the same room together and talk about the movie itself (or other stuff)... well, it's just different than when you're watching regular TV. Television is mindless activity. Movies are to be appreciated. Don't you think?

'Open Water' movie. 'Without a Paddle' movie. So far, we've only rented 2 movies: Open Water and Without A Paddle.

Here are our reviews of each.

What I Learned Today:
If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always gotten. I'm feeling empowered now.
